I was in the same house as Mark - briefly in fact we overlapped by only one year that was 1985/6.
I remember him for two reasons, he stepped in to prevent me doing my part in a play with a weird accent, which I was grateful for. Everyone else thought it was a good idea. He noticed though that I was uncomfortable with it.
But far more memorable was seeing Mark and I think 3 other senior boys demonstrating outside Memorial Hall I think it was for a Free Ireland. Mark was wearing his full CCF fatigues with a balaclava, and cammed up etc. Mark was the only person I ever met at MC with the balls to stage a demonstration at the College in broad daylight I think it was just after a Sunday meeting. It was really quite a sight and everyone was talking about it.
Mark was a sportsman and approachable. I was many years his junior and only met him on a few occasions but I really respected him.
I was shocked and stunned to hear he has passed away and I offer my sincerest condolences to his family.
